What is it?
This Decree-Law lays down the obligation to make a complaints book available to all good suppliers or service providers who are in contact with the general public (the 2 annexes indicate the types of undertakings or establishments required to have a complaints book in physical or electronic format).
The complaints books are acquired in the Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda — INCM, S.A.
What is going to change?
The law has extended the obligation to have a complaints book in more sectors. It makes the existence of a complaints book mandatory for all suppliers of goods and service providers that have contact with the public.
Guarantees of the effectiveness of the complaints book are strengthened as a conflict prevention instrument.
What advantages does it bring?
It makes it easier for consumers to exercise their right of complaint and enables regulators in each sector of activity to monitor and analyse complaints.
It enables economic operators to improve the quality of services provided and of goods sold.
When does it enter into force?
This decree-law enters into force on 1st January 2006.
