What is it?
This decree-law defines the assignment of social benefits to voluntary firefighters, also considering a more favourable scheme for the calculation of the retirement pension.
What is going to change?
The firefighters now benefit from a return of 50% of the expenses with nurseries and kindergartens.
The maximum amount to be granted for the benefits’ payment corresponds to the minimum national salary, in force in the beginning of the school year of the expenses.
The firefighters who have worked for, at least, 15 years are entitled to a time bonus for the purposes of calculation of the retirement pension.
The bonus corresponds to 15% of the work time as a voluntary firefighter, with the maximum limit of five years of benefit.
The contributions are now borne in equal parts by the stakeholder and by the Firefighter Social Protection Fund. Until now, the contribution was only ensured by the stakeholder.
They also benefit from a 50% decrease in all taxes (within the internal administration area) and in the access to State refectories under the same conditions as the public servants.
What advantages does it bring?
This decree-law aims to reinforce the incentives to the volunteerism, granting benefits in the use of public goods and services, as well as private services through partnerships with entities of the correspondent municipality.
When does it enter into force?
This decree-law enters into force on the day following its publication.
