What is it?

This decree-law reviews the early retirement scheme of the General Pension Fund’s (CGA) subscribers, bringing it closer to the new scheme in force in the general social security scheme.

What is going to change?

The retirement status now allows the access to the early retirement by the beneficiaries who are, at least, 60 years old and who, with this age, complete at least 40 years of effective service, under the same conditions as the ones in the general social security scheme.

The current scheme for the beneficiaries who do not met the access conditions to the new early retirement scheme remain into force.

The concept of personal retirement age is introduced

In situations identical to the ones of the general social security scheme, each employee is allowed to, according to their effective length of service, adjust their retirement age.

What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law allows the CGA beneficiaries to benefit from the same access conditions to retirements as the general social security scheme’s beneficiaries.

It contributes for a more equitable, fairer and transparent treatment of the employees.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force five days after its publication and takes effect from 1 October 2019.
