What is it?
This decree-law increases the value of the Guaranteed Minimum Monthly Pay.
The Guaranteed Minimum Monthly Pay (RMMG - Retribuição Mínima Mensal Garantida), better known as the national minimum wage, is the minimum starting salary that can be paid to workers for one month of their work.
What will change?
As of January 1, 2018, the RMMG will be valued at € 580.
The Civil Service Single Remuneration Table (TRU — Tabela de Remuneração Única) is updated to make sure that civil servants' salaries are not below the RMMG. This table presents the reference values for civil servants' salaries.
What are its benefits?
This decree-law is intended to:
- reduce social inequalities
- increase families’ incomes
- promote economic growth.
When does it come into effect?
This decree-law comes into effect on 1 January 2018.
