Exceptional changes to the conditions of application to higher education by students who have not been able to take final secondary education exams in foreign education systems due to their cancellation following the COVID-19 pandemic are approved.
The applicants are exempted from replacing the entrance examinations by the subject final examinations, and the final classification of the subjects of the respective secondary education will be used to calculate the respective application mark.
This exemption corresponds to the entrance examinations required for the access to the institution/study cycle pair to which they apply.Which students are covered?
Students coming from:
- United Kingdom;
- Cape Verde;
- The Netherlands;
- Secondary level courses taught within the European Schools;
- International Baccalaureate;
- Cambridge Assessment International Education;
- Other countries where the cancellation of the final secondary school examinations has been ordered as a measure to mitigate the pandemic of the COVID-19 disease.
These exceptional measures are aimed at not hindering the continuation of studies of those applicant, where emigrant applicants and family members residing with them are particularly relevant.
They also allow minimizing the damage arising from the pandemic situation in what concerns the access to higher education for students from abroad.When does it enter into force?
This decree-law enters into force on the day following its publication.
