Summary in plain english

What is it?

This decree-law amends the Tourism and Cinema Support Fund, ensuring the extension of the incentive programme for cinematographic and audiovisual production until 2023.

What is going to change?

The Fund can now be reinforced using the management balances from the reimbursements of beneficiaries of European funds from Turismo de Portugal, up to a maximum of 12 million euros, for the year 2023, to be used exclusively for expenditure to be incurred in the promotion of film and audiovisual production.

What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law ensures the extension of the programme for another year, creating conditions, not only to compensate for what, as a result of the COVID-19 disease, could not be achieved in terms of attracting filming to Portugal during 2020, but also to strengthen the confidence of national and international producers in this support mechanism, which, without this extension, would end, from the point of view of approvals, in mid-2021.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force on 8 June 2021.
