Decree Law No. 37-A/2021

Publication: Republic Diary No. 104/2021, Series I of 2021-05-28
  • Issuer: Presidency of the Council of Ministers
  • Diploma Type: Decree Law
  • Number: 37-A/2021
  • Pages: 26-(2) a 26-(3)

Summary in plain english

What is it?

This decree-law guarantees the non-reduction of remuneration and the right to national social protection for prosecutors appointed as Deputy European Public Prosecutors (PED).

What is going to change?

The College of the European Public Prosecutor's Office has decided that in the event that the disposable income of a PED is lower than it would have been in its original professional position, the PED may request, from the Administrative Director of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, that he/she be paid a remuneration supplement to ensure that his/her remuneration is not reduced.

Since this remuneration supplement does not cover contributions to the national social protection scheme, this decree-law ensures that the full coverage of that scheme is maintained and, consequently, guarantees that the PED's remuneration will not be reduced.

What advantages does it bring?

The benefits for the lives of the PED are:

    • Maintenance of the available income of the PEDs in relation to the income previously earned;
    • Right to enjoy the respective social protection.
When does it enter into force?

This decree-law entered into force on 29 May 2021.
