This decree-law creates an exceptional measure to compensate the increase in the value of the minimum monthly salary (RMMG).What is going to change?
This measure applies to employers, as well as to individuals with one or more full time workers at their service.
It consists of the attribution of a cash benefit, paid by IAPMEI - Agência para a Competitividade e Inovação, I. P. (IAPMEI, I. P.), or by the Instituto do Turismo de Portugal, I. P. (Turismo de Portugal, I. P.).
This allowance is paid in a lump sum to employers who still have workers in their service in April 2021, and applies to the whole of mainland Portugal.
Its value is determined according to the declared base remuneration, relative to December 2020. It will be:
- - €84.50 per worker, if the declared income is equivalent to the RMMG for 2020;
- - €42.25 per worker, if that income is above the RMMG for 2020 and below the RMMG for 2021.
This measure can be cumulated with other employment supports, applicable to the same job, including those granted under the COVID-19 pandemic.What advantages does it bring?
The increase in the value of the RMMG contributes, on the one hand, to improving the purchasing power of workers and, on the other hand, to improving the levels of social cohesion in the country.
This measure aims to promote more dignified work and growth, without neglecting the financial weight that the increase in the RMMG value for the year 2021 represents in the current economic conjuncture for companies.When does it enter into force?
The decree-law enters into force five days following its publication.
