The beneficiaries of the credit lines with public guarantee, created to support the national economy to ensure the reinforcement of its treasury and liquidity, in the context of the COVID-19 disease pandemic, will be allowed to adhere to an additional 9-month grace period by signing several protocols between the Banco Português de Fomento (BPF), the credit institutions adhering to them and the mutual guarantee companies.
Also approved is the possibility, as a result of the negative effects of the pandemic in the current context, for the Mutual Counter-Guarantee Fund to provide guarantees outside the context of the mutual guarantee system, with the BPF being responsible for ensuring compliance.What advantages does it bring?
This decree-law allows borrowers who joined credit lines with a public guarantee after 27 March 2020 to join a 9-month grace period. It also allows the Mutual Counter-Guarantee Fund to provide guarantees outside the scope of the mutual guarantee system to enable beneficiaries to cope with their fragile financial situation as a result of the adoption of necessary measures in times of pandemic.When does it enter into force?
This decree-law enters into force on the day following its publication.
