Decree Law No. 100/2020

This decree-law amends two schemes:

1. The scheme that creates the social tariff for the supply of electricity;

2. The scheme creating the social tariff for the supply of natural gas to be applied to economically vulnerable final customers.

This decree-law revises the conditions of eligibility of social tariffs for natural gas and electricity for consumers in a situation of socio-economic deprivation.

Consumers in a situation of socio-economic deprivation are final customers who have a total annual income of 5808.00€ or less plus 50% for each member of the household who earns no income, as well as the beneficiaries of some social support.

In addition to consumers in a situation of socio-economic deprivation who already benefited from this support, all beneficiaries of unemployment benefits and beneficiaries of the disability social pension of the special disability protection scheme or the social benefit supplement for inclusion now also benefit from it.

This diploma ensures the protection of consumers who are in a situation of socio-economic deprivation, in order to combat poverty, especially energy poverty, by extending the scope of this mechanism.

This decree-law enters into force on the day following its publication.
