Decree Law No. 68/2020

This decree-law establishes exceptional and temporary measures in the field of education concerning the continuity, in the 2020/2021 academic year, of fixed-term contracts concluded with non-teaching staff of schools in the public network of the Ministry of Education, considering the unpredictability of the evolution of the epidemiological situation of the COVID-19 disease.

Given the public health emergency of international scope, declared by the World Health Organization on 30 January 2020, as well as the classification, on 11 March 2020, of the COVID-19 disease as a pandemic, the Government has been approving a set of extraordinary and urgent measures in several matters.

The term of non-teaching staff contracts concluded in the 2017/2018 academic year is extended until the date to be established for the end of the 2020/2021 academic year.

This decree-law is one of the measures adopted with the aim of ensuring that teaching, non-teaching and on-site training activities take place as normally as possible.

This decree-law enters into force on 16 September 2020.
