Summary in plain english

What is it?

This decree-law extends the extraordinary support for maintaining employment contracts in business crisis and creates other employment protection measures under the Economic and Social Stabilisation Programme.

Given the public health emergency of international scope, declared by the World Health Organization on 30 January 2020, as well as the classification, on 11 March 2020, of the COVID-19 disease as a pandemic, the Government has been approving a set of extraordinary and urgent measures in several matters.

What is going to change?

The scope of application of the stabilisation supplement, previously created for workers who have had a decrease in income as a result of the pandemic is clarified. This will be assigned to workers who have been covered, for a period of 30 days or more, by support to the maintenance of the employment contract or by temporarily reduction of the normal working period or suspension of the employment contract.

What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law contributes to granting extraordinary support to workers who have had a reduction in income as a result of the pandemic, thus supporting the recovery of family income.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force on the day following its publication.
