What is it?

This decree-law reschedules the training courses for magistrates that began and will begin between September 2018 and December 2022.

What is going to change?

The initial training period for the XXXVI, XXXVII and XXXVIII magistrates' training courses is reduced, taking into account the shortage of magistrates, which must be met.

Thus:

It follows the selection process, which began in January 2020 (XXXVI Course), a 1st cycle that runs from 2 December 2020 to 15 July 2021 and, in the case of the Public Prosecutor's Office, a 2nd cycle and an internship with reduced durations.

In the XXXVII and XXXVIII courses, the 1st cycle will have a reduced duration (approximately seven months), followed, in the case of the Public Prosecutor's Office, by a reduction in the 2nd cycle and the internship.

In the XXXIV course, the internship period is reduced as well as the period of the 2nd cycle and internship, in the XXXV course.

What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law reduces the training time of magistrates, always guaranteeing the standards of demand and quality in selection and training according to the public interest.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force on 13 August 2020.
