What is it?

This decree-law creates specialized competence courts within the scope of the Statute of Administrative and Tax Courts.

What is going to change?

In the Administrative Courts of Lisbon and Porto, the courts of common and social expertise are created.

The Administrative Courts of Lisbon and Porto are also part of a public contracts court, with extended jurisdiction over the areas of jurisdiction of the neighbouring administrative and tax courts.

The Administrative and Tax Courts of Almada, Aveiro, Braga, Leiria and Sintra have also established the following specialised courts:

    • Common administrative court;
    • Social administrative court;
    • Common tax court;
    • Enforcement and misdemeanour appeals.
What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law allows to reduce the number of pending cases and ensures a larger, more adequate and efficient offer.

It makes the processing of disputes associated with public contracts faster and more specialized.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force on 14 December 2019.
