What is it?

This decree-law extends the legal scheme that enshrined the right of lawyers to advance procedural acts in which they should intervene in cases of maternity, paternity and bereavement to solicitors in the exercise of their forensic mandate.

What is going to change?

It is allowed that solicitors in the exercise of the forensic mandate benefit from the same scheme that is granted to lawyers, with regard to the exemption from activity for a certain period, in situations of maternity, paternity or death of a close relative.

What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law allows a greater and better conciliation between personal, family and professional life, as well as equal treatment between lawyers and solicitors.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force on 13 December 2019.
