What is it?

This decree-law amends the adaptation period provided for in the regime to which the opening, modification and operation of healthcare provider establishments (EPCS) are subject.

What is going to change?

The period for adaptation to the scheme for the opening, modification and operation of the EPCS is modified.

Healthcare provider establishments (EPCS) operate under a licence which is granted by the Health Regulatory Authority (ERS).

EPCS that hold operating licenses issued under the legislation prior to the entry into force of this regime have until 31 August 2023 to comply with the new legal regime.

This adaptation period only applies to the requirements established in the ordinances still to be approved.

What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law recognizes the importance of healthcare establishments and reinforces the demand for quality and safety of the services they provide.

The modification of the adaptation period allows for a serious and careful consideration and revision of the substantive regime relating to the licensing of licensing rules and technical requirements relating to the organisation and operation of EPCS.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force on the following day after its publication.
