What is it?

This decree-law amends the Research Grant Holder's Statute.

What is going to change?

Research grants are awarded only when they are associated with obtaining an academic degree or diploma, and it is no longer possible to award grants to people who are not students.

The science and technology management scholarships are abolished.

The establishment of links with researchers with a PhD through the employment contract becomes the rule.

Post-doctoral scholarships have a maximum duration of three years and can only be awarded to people who have been doctoral candidates for less than three years. Previously, this period was 6 years and the grant could be awarded at any time.

Suspension of the research grant is now possible in certain circumstances.

What advantages does it bring?

This decree-law strengthens the fight against the instability in the scientific work and encourages the development of research careers.

When does it enter into force?

This decree-law enters into force on the following day after its publication.
